2023 Ford Escape
It's out with the old, and in with the new when it comes to the 2023 Ford Escape. This compact SUV continues to be one of Ford's top-selling vehicles, and the 2023 model brings about changes that create a sleeker exterior and improved functionality in the interior.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
One of the most significant changes to the 2023 Ford Escape is the revamping of the trim levels. The well-known S, SE, SEL, and Titanium trims have been replaced with the Base, Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-In Hybrid trims. All trims feature LED signature lighting, dual chrome exhaust tips, and, with the exception of the Base trim, a power liftgate. The Base, Active, and Plug-in Hybrid trims feature a piano black grille, while the other trims feature a black mesh grille. All trims except the Base trim feature privacy glass on the second row and liftgate.
Engine (Power)
You can expect a smooth ride when you hit the road in an Escape. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard on all trim models with the exception of the Plug-in Hybrid, which features an eCVT Hybrid/Plug-in Hybrid transmission. The Base, Active, and ST-Line feature a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, while the ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, and Platinum Trims see an upgraded 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
The Plug-In Hybrid features a Plug-in Hybrid 2.5-liter iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine. All trims also feature Curve Control, which permits sensors to monitor the vehicle's systems as you approach a curve, reduce torque, and apply the brakes to help you navigate the curve safely and efficiently.
Performance
The Escape is equipped to perform on all types of terrain, as all-wheel drive comes standard on the ST-Line Select and ST-Line Elite trims. All other trims come standard with front-wheel drive, with some trims having the option of all-wheel drive. All trims include four-wheel disc brakes with an anti-lock brake system and electronic traction control.
Interior
The interior of the Escape combines style and functionality, with the 2023 edition bringing some big upgrades. All models utilize a Sync 4 infotainment system, which is capable of over-the-air updates and has an optional 13.2-inch display screen. All models come with an 8-inch color gauge display, making it easier than ever to monitor your driving. Seating includes capacity for up to five passengers, and you'll find second-row sliding seats with a 60/40 split-fold to increase cargo capacity.
Safety Features
The Ford Escape helps you get to your destination safely, no matter where that might be. The Escape receives an overall safety rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
All models feature forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. You'll also find a personal safety system with dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags and front seat-mounted side-impact airbags. The Escape also features a SOS post-crash alert system that will help draw attention to your vehicle in the event of a crash by flashing the lights and honking the horn repeatedly.
